CENTURI 2019 Scientific meeting - Self-organization in multicellular systems

CENTURI 2019 scientific meeting (CSM 2019) will focus on “Self-organization in multicellular systems” And will take place at the Institut d'Études Scientifiques de Cargèse (Corsica, France) from September 30 to October 04, 2019.

This interdisciplinary workshop is designed to foster new collaborations and is a unique opportunity to meet and exchange with fellow scientists specialised in a wide range of topics in life science.

It will tackle the spatial and temporal patterns across scales found in biological systems (such as cell migration and tissue morphogenesis, cell polarization and cell movement) and will try to answer to several questions such as How do such spatial and temporal dynamics arise? What are the respective contributions of biological control and self-organization?

CENTURI 2019 scientific meeting will include 18 talks given by high level invited speakers from all over the world, as well as short talks and poster sessions.

Registration deadline: July 30, 2019

Abstract submission deadline: May 31, 2019

Registration fees: 300€

3rd CENTURI Scientific day – May 10, from 01:00 p.m.

The 3rd CENTURI Scientific day will take place on May 10, 2019, from 01:00 pm at the Hexagone (Luminy campus). It will focus on “Modelling in Biology” and will aim at fostering new interdisciplinary collaborations and projects within our community and present CENTURI new research groups.

A total of 16 short talks will be presented this afternoon. A poster session will also be organized in order to facilitate scientific interactions.

A cocktail party will also be organised after the event to exchange about the projects presented during the event.

CENTURI Summer School 2019 – application deadline extended

CENTURI is organising a Summer School on the Luminy campus from June 3 to June 12, 2019.

Entitled “From data to biology and back – Reverse engineering biological networks”, this interdisciplinary training programme aims at building bridges between engineers and scientists. It is a unique opportunity for engineering students and MSc students to apply their skills in mathematics, physics and computational science to biological questions.

The deadline for application has been extended to April 30, 2019.

As usual, we encourage you to share the news in your professional network!

CENTURI Training Courses

Our training course “A focus on imaging” has started. The first part dedicated to Optics and Imaging Techniques took place from April 01 to 04. The 2nde part of the training course is scheduled on April 18, 22 & 23.

Another training course focused on oral communication will take place on May 15 & 22, 2019.

The training course is designed to teach PhD students (1st and 2nd year) how to create fascinating oral presentations, customized for their audience. Applications are open until May 03, 2018. Please keep in mind that the course is limited to 8 students.

An update on CENTURI PhD Call 2019

27 PhD candidates have been shortlisted for an in-person interview in Marseille, from  April 23 to April 25, 2019 and 24 will attend the auditions.

CENTURI PhD auditions will start on April 23 with a short tour of our campus, flash presentations of the PhD projects and a welcoming cocktail. PhD candidates will meet the evaluation committee and PIs involved in different projects on April 24 & 25.

Results of the call should be available at the end of April or early May.

An update on CENTURI Postdoc Call 2019

Applications to our CENTURI Postdoc call are open until April 26, 2019. CENTURI will recruit up to 5 postdoc fellows starting in fall 2019. 8 interdisciplinary projects are currently available on our website. Postdoctoral fellows also have the possibility to submit their own project until April 26, provided that it meets the eligibility criteria defined on our website.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the audition committee on June 27 & 28, 2019

Miscellaneous

CENTURI warmly congratulates Christophe Eloy (IRPHE), laureate of the 2018 ERC Advanced grant with his project “Life and death of a virtual copepod in turbulence » (COPEPOD).
