CENTURI Days 2025: Three Days of Science, Careers, and Community
CENTURI Days 2025, held last week across three different Marseille venues, brought together the interdisciplinary CENTURI community for a rich two-day program of science, career development, and networking.
From students and postdocs to senior researchers and engineers, the event welcomed participants from all disciplines within the CENTURI network to reflect on ongoing achievements and envision the future of quantitative biology and living systems research.
This year’s edition was structured around three major events, each hosted in a different setting, creating a unique atmosphere for every stage of the program:
Career Meeting Day —
The event opened at Luminy, CENTURI’s home campus, with a full day dedicated to career development. The Career Meeting Day was designed for PhD students, postdocs, and young researchers exploring their future paths both inside and outside academia.
- Round tables tackling topics such as research careers in France and abroad, transitioning to industry, and building a career at the science–technology interface
- Career talks from former CENTURI members now working in academia, biotech, data science, entrepreneurship, scientific communication, etc.
- Interactive sessions with professionals offering insights, advice, and networking opportunities
The day underscored CENTURI’s mission to support early-career researchers not just scientifically, but also professionally.
Scientific Day —
The second day took place at the prestigious Palais du Pharo, overlooking Marseille’s Old Port — a fitting setting for a day of cutting-edge science and cross-disciplinary dialogue.
The Scientific Day featured:
- A series of talks highlighting recent research advances across CENTURI labs in quantitative biology, from modeling and data science to imaging and experimental biology
- Presentations by alumni, offering both scientific insights and reflections on their trajectories after CENTURI
- Thematic sessions that sparked discussions on pressing challenges in biology today, including the integration of AI, multi-scale modeling, and the role of data in life sciences
This day reaffirmed CENTURI’s commitment to breaking down silos between disciplines and fostering an innovative, collaborative research environment.
Cocktail Evening —
The event concluded at the stunning Villa Gaby, perched on the Mediterranean coast, for a festive Cocktail Evening that brought the entire community together in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
With beautiful views, refreshments, and informal conversations, the evening provided a perfect close to CENTURI Days 2025.
CENTURI Days 2025 served not only as a celebration of past and present achievements but also as a springboard toward future initiatives.
