3 new group leaders at the Turing Centre for Living Systems

Starting in 2017, CENTURI is an interdisciplinary project located in Marseille (France), which federates 15 teaching and research institutes in biology, physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering. Today, CENTURI’s research community is happy to welcome 4 new group leaders: Matthias Merkel (CPT), Jean-François Rupprecht (CPT).

Philippe Roudot (CENTURI – I2M)

Philippe Roudot (I2M)

Philippe Roudot will lead a group at the Institut de Mathématiques de Marseille (I2M), in the Signal and Image team.

Philippe Roudot’s research focuses on the automatic identification of collective molecular processes in biomolecular clouds, establishing the acquisition parameters required to detect them and their exploration in bioimaging datasets of ever-growing size. 

Before joining CENTURI, Philippe Roudot had been granted a Human Frontier Postdoctoral fellowship at the UT Southwestern Medical Center from 2014 to 2020.

Pierre Ronceray (CENTURI – CPT)

Pierre Ronceray (CPT)

CENTURI is thrilled to welcome Pierre Ronceray as a new CENTURI Principal Investigator (since February). Pierre Ronceray leads a group at the Centre de Physique Théorique (CPT), on “Theoretical modeling and inference methods for the physics of soft biological matter”. His research group focuses on statistical mechanics approaches to the physics of soft living matter, with focus on protein condensation, self-assembly, and the design of inference methods to treat experimental data of stochastic biological processes. 

Before joining CENTURI, Pierre Ronceray was a postdoctoral fellow at the Princeton Center for the Physics of Biological Function.

Léo Guignard (CENTURI – CPT)

Léo Guignard will lead a group at the Laboratoire d’Informatique & Systèmes (LIS), on “Understanding developmental reproducibility at the single cell scale”.

His research group focuses on applying Computer Science to quantitatively characterise and understand the developmental reproducibility of embryos across spatial and temporal scales, pursuing two goals: building average representatives of a population of developing embryos and characterising developmental variability across spatio-temporal scales.

Before joining CENTURI, Léo Guignard was a Post-doctoral associate in D. Kainmueller group, IRI-MDC, Berlin, Germany.
